Papago Indian Baskets
Native plant life from southern Arizona is used in the making of this coil basket. Coiling is the technique of interweaving yucca (white, green) devil’s claw (black) and yucca root (red) around a beargrass base.
Each basket represents an individual effort in not only the hand weaving process, but also in gathering as well as preparing the materials.
